Horse Riding Lessons for Adults

No pressure. No experience required.

Just a welcoming environment and a great group of riders.

Many of our adult students start with little or no experience — and quickly discover how fun, confidence-building, and rewarding riding can be. With patient, step-by-step instruction and willing, well-trained horses, our lessons are designed to help adults feel comfortable and successful from day one. If you’ve ever thought about riding but weren’t sure it was “for you,” now’s the time to give it a try.

Who Rides With Us

Busy Parents

Between work, school schedules, and everything else life throws your way, it’s easy to forget to make time for yourself. Our adult riding lessons give busy parents a chance to unplug, get outside, and enjoy something they’ve always wanted to try. Many of our riders say it’s the one hour a week that’s just for them – a peaceful reset on the farm with calm, well-trained horses and patient instruction.

Retirees

Retirement is the perfect time to try something new – or return to something you’ve always loved. Our adult riding lessons are welcoming, relaxed, and designed to meet you where you are. Lessons move at a comfortable, confidence-building pace with gentle instruction and willing horses. No experience is needed, and there’s no rush – just a beautiful farm and a supportive environment.

Anyone Ready to Try Something New

You don’t need a special reason to start riding. Some of our students just wanted to get outdoors more. Others have always been curious about horses. Whatever brings you here, you’ll find a welcoming group and instructors who make learning feel natural and fun.

Adult Riding Lesson Packages

Life is busy, and open-ended commitments aren’t always realistic. That’s why we offer structured riding packages with a clear beginning and end – so you can enjoy riding without feeling locked into an indefinite schedule. Whether you’re testing the waters or ready to build real skills, our packages give you dedicated time outdoors doing something just for yourself.

Me Time Package: 4 Consecutive Weeks

Patient instruction, well-trained horses, no long-term obligation – perfect for first-time riders or those testing the waters: $280.

Outdoor Freedom Package: 12 Consecutive Weeks

More time to develop balance, confidence, and connection — learn horsemanship, not just how to ride: $850 (payment plan available).

What You’ll Learn

Our lessons focus on building real skills and confidence at your own pace. You’ll learn riding fundamentals, horse care and understanding, and how to think and move with a horse. No experience is required – just curiosity and a willingness to try. Riding isn’t just exercise; it’s focus, balance, and connection with an incredible animal.

What you need to get started:

    • Long pants
    • Closed-toe shoes (riding boots recommended)
    • Helmets required – borrow one to start, personal helmets encouraged for riders continuing beyond 5 weeks

Fitness & Safety (Important!)

    • For the safety and comfort of our horses, we have a 205 lb. rider weight limit
    • Riding is a full-body workout – it uses muscles you may not expect. It’s completely normal to feel sore at first
    • Be patient with yourself – strength, balance, and confidence improve quickly with consistency

Our priority is always horse welfare, rider safety, and a positive experience for everyone. No experience needed – just curiosity and a willingness to try. This is your chance to slow down, get outside, and do something that’s just for you.

Spots are limited to keep instruction personal and supportive. Whether you choose 5 weeks or 12, you’ll leave with new skills, more confidence, and a deeper appreciation for what it means to work with a horse.

No dogs allowed at WildeWood FarmImportant Reminder:
Because we have our dogs roaming the grounds at WildeWood Farm as livestock guardians, we do not allow guests to bring their dogs on site (or even leave them in the car).

Please leave your furry friends at home when you visit for a party, camp, or lesson!

Many of our adult students discovered their passion for horses while bringing their children to the farm. If you have kids interested in riding, explore our youth riding programs where they can learn horsemanship fundamentals in a safe, supportive environment. We love seeing families grow together through their shared love of horses.
